If you have $1 million to spare, because, who doesn’t these days, right? :/, then you might want to consider applying (what, did you really think, that you could just buy a ticket? Um no, no, no) to become one of the first to get a ride aboard the New Titanic (née Titanic II) in a first-class suite.
TII will even feature some of the SAME rooms as the original Titanic. Watch and learn:
Though I’m not crazy superstitious, I do think this concept is nuts. In my mind, the Titanic is cursed. I know there isn’t real evidence to prove this fact, but, to me, few things can be more nonsensical than jumping aboard a boat (which can SINK, BREAK IN HALF, and/or leave people STRANDED WITHOUT ELECTRICITY FOR DAYS [I’m talking to you, Carnival Cruises!]! The list goes on..) that features the same name as its failure of a predecessor.
OK, OK.. But Lost happened and people still fly, right? Yes. Even my fam and I obsessed with Lost and I love to fly. BUT there aren’t any real airlines by the name of Oceanic, are there? No, there aren’t. (I looked.) Because that’d be crazy:::
That departure date is the site’s default. Go ahead, “search” for available flights. The Results page is hilarious.
And why name it Titanic II, anyways? Does the first Titanic need more reinforcement about how much it sucked? WHAT IF BECOMES HAUNTED by the original passengers who’d get jealous of the new passengers and end up KILLING THEM?! :O
Make a new “Titanic” and invest in it all you want, but don’t name it that. Actually, instead of making a new cruise (do we really need one anyways?), make a “Lost” but about a cruise ship. Actually, those people would probably still end up stranded on an island so never mind!
Wanna find out more about the Titanic II? Here is its Wikipedia article, an NPR article with some cool renderings (although a shout-out to the renderings’ designer: It’s the 21st century! PS- The video does’t seem to work now for some reason), and a Guardian article from Dec 2012 because the Brits not only have a cool accent, but also get to watch Downton Abbey AND find out about new Titanics MONTHS before the rest of us mere mortals.
If you had the $$, would you want to be among the first to ride the new Titanic?
